SCAFFOLD SAFETY TRAINING
Overview of OSHA Standard
It is the employer's responsibility to establish and implement an effective scaffolding program for the safety of their employees. OSHA mandates that all employers are responsible for training their employees in the correct set-up and usage of scaffolding. This training needs to be documented by the employer to ensure that a competent person performed appropriate training to his/her employees. The employer needs to ensure that all scaffolds are equipped with proper safety devices to complete job tasks in a safe manner. This standard was developed to prevent exposure, educate employees, and provide a safe and healthy work environment for all employees subjected to hazardous environments. All employees need to be trained under the 29 CFR 1926.451 standards for the construction industry.
Course Description
Job-site training on scaffolding along with hands-on demonstration and exercises, including an evaluation of each trainee's ability to understand how to set up a scaffold with competence in similar working conditions. Other exercises emphasized will be types of braces, ladders, guardrails, toe boards, platforms and other safety devices. All training will be conducted by a competent safety professional. Retraining will take place when any changes to equipment occur, making the previous training obsolete.
