Overview of OSHA Standard

OSHA requires that all forklift and other power industrial truck operators will need to be trained by a competent person. This training requirement has been proposed and finalized by OSHA. Employers are responsible for training all forklift operators as of December 1, 1999.

Course Description

Job-site training on forklift operators along with hands-on demonstration and exercises, including evaluation of each operator's ability to perform each task with competence in similar working conditions. Other exercises emphasized will be operator's instructions, and warnings and precautions listed in the operator's manual for the truck in use.
